Missed Manicures Pic Heavy

Hi there :)
I've had a lot of technical issues in the past month crossed with giving up but some dumb luck and google chrome later I'm back! I've been taking pictures of the manis I've been doing since I blogged last so here's the missed manicures!
Sally Hansen complete salon manicure in Angel Bite. This is a sloppy swatch but at least you get the color. It's from their latest LE display, it's still hanging around the drug stores.
This is just to show that what you see in the bottle is what you get, I really like it :) It looks bloody doesn't it?
This was inspired by the Little Mermaid, it's pretty unfocused because I want you to see the green shimmer! For this I used Late Night Lilac from the NYC Expert Last line, I think this is a really old LE but any deep(ish) lilac color would do. Then I used Heartbreaker from Pure Ice (Core line) for the green shimmer (which showed up better in person). Then on the top half of my nails I used Pure Ice in Twist and Shout. I don't know much about this polish but any red glitter would work...maybe even better because Twist and Shout has random blue glitters in it.
 Simba liked it too.
Okay, he really liked it :)
This is from the NYC Long Wearing (99 cents) line in Skyline Blue. They just put this out in Spring and it's part of the core line. Every time I write core line I want to write "Coroline" the movie :)
This is my new favorite manicure! It's Sinful Colors  Beverly Hills from one of the many new displays they put out for summer (I think it's the Kentucky derby inspired one). Then I used on the upper half of my nails Spitfire by Pure Ice (core line!) I used it in a bit of a U shape so the outsides of my nails are longer and the inside is closer to my nail line (if that makes any sense? lol) It's out of focus so you can see the holographic glitter in Spitfire.
Doesn't it look like I dipped my tips in like magic sugar?
It reminds me on a unicorn! I've never seen one or anything but...if they were real I'm sure I'd love them this much! :) This picture is more accurate in the color, it is a warmer toned lilac. But the glitter looks AMAZING in real life :)
This is Julie G's Gumdrop polish in Blueberry fizz. It reminds me of Cinderella! :) This was my first textured polish and I don't like the texture part but it looks like straight glitter! So I did a top coat...
I did two coats of NYC long Wearing top coat which took away the texture but left the look! I suppose I can talk the talk but not walk the walk ;) Oh I used a base coat (which I've been told not to do with texture polish) but I don't think it hurt the application or anything...I thought it was fine. I just didn't want my nails being murdered from taking the chunks of glitter off. I used the foil method and this came right off! No issue at all.

If you're still reading thanks for checking out my missed manicures!
Have a nice day :)

Update and a Beauty Blogger Tag

Oh my...it's been a long time since I promised a post that never happened. Sorry :( I'm trying to be more consistent...which might be posting once or twice a week, when I have something to say. I have some books I'd like to talk about (once I read them) and some accessories and polish and some makeup. But as I'm sure you know, life happens. School happens too. Oh and proctrastination also. Blah. Oh I also got some lovely planters warts removed (well started to be removed) so my foot hurts. I'm also getting sick. Right before my Keystone State tests. I'm actually REALLY nervous for those. :( Well, but anywho I decided to do this tag which I got from Beauty of a Foodie, who got it from a blog called Beauty Broadcast. I've never done a tag before so I don't know how far I have to track back. Here's the tag!

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
Straight. But I wish it was curly (we all what what we don't have huh?)

2. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?
I've actually never dyed my hair.

3. Do you wear the same style everyday, or do you change it?
Hair wise? Mostly every day yes, mainly because I don't do anything with it lol but if I do I'll curl it with a hair straightener for beachy waves. I love beachy waves.

4. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?
Welp, every six weeks I get my nails done at a beauty school while my mom gets her hair dyed. My pedicure lasts the whole six weeks but my nails come off after a week. I'm trying to find another thing to get done to waste the time (instead of a mani) I like to do my own, I like my polish better anyway :p But thats our momma/daughter date so I have to find something to do.

5. How often do you change your nail polish?
Normally once a week. I'll do touch up as I need to though, but I'm pretty easy on my nails. Dark colors (my fav!) always need touched up, any wear is oblivious!

6. Do you polish your toes in the winter or just the summer?
I get them done year round :)

7. How long does it take for you to put on makeup?
Depending if I'm trying something new or not...hmm 20-30 mins tops...it only takes me so long because theres a lot of things I'm not quite good enough at yet. Practice makes perfect right?

8. What do you do first? Face or eyes?
Eyes! If you do eyes first the god awful fallout gets covered up :)
9. Do you collect makeup or just buy what you need when you need it?
I don't want to say I collect it but...I do. But not like face products, I only buy foundation and powder and concealer as I need it. There's nothing fun about those! lol But eyeshadow, lipstick, lip gloss..well none of it's safe.
10. How often do you wear false eyelashes?
I don't. I never have. I don't know how.
11. Do you do a full face of makeup everyday?
Nope nope no no no. If I wondered out everyday I probably would...but I'm sure I'd make it lighter (like bb cream/tinted moisturizer 60% ish of the time)

12. Do you wear makeup when you're home alone or with family?
Yes, but mainly because I don't like to wear a new product outside of my house until I've tried it out.
13. Will you leave the house without makeup?
Sure! I do it all the time. I only wear makeup because I like to. When I first started wearing make up I was terrified to leave my house with out make up on (no, 15-16 are never good years lol) but I realized that was such an unhealthy mindset. It was an  awakening moment when I almost honestly cried because I didn't have time to put makeup on before leaving.
14. How many high-end products do you have?
Hmmm...a couple palettes. A few single shadows. I like occasional high end pieces but I noticed I'm always more bummed out when a high end product doesn't reach my expectations. Which are normally rediculous, it's just for the price I expect more. It's much more fun to find cheap, great product. For me anyway. :)

15. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you're getting dressed?
I just decide when I'm getting dressed...sometimes I'll see what my clean choices are the night before though.

16. How often do you change your handbag?
Uhmm..when I think about it...every few months I guess.

17. What time do you wake up and go to sleep?
On the weekends I never know. On the weekdays I never know. All I know is Monday, Wednesday, Friday I'm always up at 7 AM. Tuesdays and Thursdays are 9:15 AM. I normally go to bed anywhere from 11-2 (I know, I know)

18. How often or when do you workout?
Well...as of right now, not often. I said up above I just got some terrible planters warts removed from my foot, I'm on my 2nd trip to get it off. I have at LEAST one more, so my feet just aren't up for the treadmil. But I'm also making terrible excuses because an exercise bike is also an option...meh. But it's normally 3-4 times a week. I need to get back in the swing of things.
19. Left handed or right handed?
Left handed, but I tend to do anything sport wise right handed. But I can not write with my right hand...it's bad lol

20. How tall are you?
I think 5' 6" maybe 5' 7" tops.

21. Do you speak any foreign languages?
Not well...but I am in a Spanish class...I also took a French class...so very broken, basic French maybe (It's been a while).

22. How many pets do you have?
I have two dogs :) Wilma and Yoda, both bosten terriors and a mother/son duo.
23. How often are you on Blogger?
Honestly rarely. But I have all my blogs I read bookmarked on my kindle so I read them all the time there :)
24. Do you read comments posted on blogs?
Yes...I'ma creeper. But most readers have great tips to offer!

25. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?
Yes. I have no idea why I'm embaressed of this :p

26. How did you come up with your blog name?
I love play on words so, I love beauty products (even thought thats not all I ramble about) hence "beauty". "On the edge" comes from me having a straight edge lifestyle. And "Insanity" because I'm pretty sure I am. Somedays that is.

27. What kind of camera do you use for your photographs?
Some blue Kodak camera. I'm not much for photography and it's just for taking pictures of things for a hobby blog so I don't think an expensive camera isn't a bright idea.
28. How often do you clean your house?
Errr...as it needs done? ;)

29. What's your favorite color?
Purple and burgendy. It's true love really.
30. Do you swear?
Unfortunately, yes. I don't mind my swearing too much but I do swear too much...I'm not bad in public though! It's weird I think it's lame/tacky when people swear in public (infront of people they don't know, or how they'll react.) I always cringe when I hear swearing in public...I don't know...
31. What are you doing with the rest of your day?
Trying to nurse myself into decent health for all the tests I have to do. I might nap (I'm SO tired). Oh and I want to organize my make up drawer actually. I'm sure I'll do some pointless research for something that intrigues me today (I have a thirst for worthless knowledge..but I'm damn glad I have it :p) I might start learing how to read tarot cards. Oh and Deadly Women is on! That's my favorite show. Then when it's over there's A Haunting marathon on next! (Hey Fridays are good for TV! I don't watch much TV except for Friday, nothing too desirables on. And when the Walking Deads back on of course.) Oh and I'll find something for dinner too!

Well I think that's it! Thank you for reading and have a nice weekend! (Or until you hear from me next, I have Keystone State tesing Monday-Wednesday. Not excited at all. So it might be Friday or Saturday until I'm back.)

Thanks for reading!

I'm Not Dead (Yet)!

You can take that for what you will but I apologize for my uhm...over a month long blogging absence :( To be honest I've had a lot of craziness in my life these last few months. Blah. The end of December went to hell which was followed by January A.K.A a month that may have been worse that December (I had two family members in the hospital and one die) only to be followed my Febuary which I still feel a little meh about and to be honest, I'm not excited for March either. But I will try to be optimistic about it, in fact today was actually a pretty good day. :o) (And it's the 1st of March so well...my fingers are crossed.)

Well thank you for reading and tommorow I should be back at ya with a post or two (if not tonite!)
Much love,
Ashley

Calgon Massaging Beauty Bar In Morning Glory Review

I recently got a couple of these bars during a great sale at Rite Aid and I've gotten around to trying these so I figured I would review them. Here it is!
Above: What you are looking for.
 Above: The massaging stubs.
Above: The detail on the back.

There isn't too much you can say about soap but there are some things to watch out for. Such as: Moisture, scent, film, clean, and in this case the massage factor.
Moisture: It's kind of moisturizing but if thats all you're looking for, I wouldn't choose this. This is NOT a drying soap though. I'd give it a 6/10
Scent: It smells like an "after the rain scent" with a little floral hit. A nice scent, but it doesn't last  long on the body.
Film or residue: When my skin was wet it was kind of sticky and felt a little filmy. But after I got out of the shower it did not stick. So I would give that a 3/10 (The lower on this scale the better)
Clean: This soap did make me feel clean, very clean. I would give this 9/10
Massage: This soap's massage stubs do feel very nice, but don't push too hard! 9/10
** A word of caution: This soap will make your bath or shower stall REALLY slippy, more so that other soaps or shower gels I've used. So if you share your bathroom with other people (young or old) make sure you rinse it out very well.

Would I recommend this or repuchase it?
Recommend? With everything factored in, yes. It is a pretty good soap, I would more recommend it for Summer or Spring (when your skin isn't too dry.)
Repurchase? If I caught it on a good sale, yes! But I think they ask a little too much retail for it.

Price: A two bar pack for around $4-$5
Where can you get it? Rite Aid and other retailers that carry Calgon products. Here is the store locator.

Have you tried any Calgon products you recommend? Let me know!

Thanks for reading!
Much love,
Ashley

December 2012 Birchbox Review

It's that time of the month. I'm sure you've heard that bad joke enough times but...sorry ;) This months Birchbox is one of those meh months. I'm not totally turned off to it but I'm not running around thrilled either. There are some things I couldn't be much happier with but then there's the rest. Well, take a look :)
Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair CC Cream: I was kind of excited to see this because I haven't tried a CC cream yet and I've heard goo things about this brand. It's also a nice size sample (Probably 3-5 days worth) so I will actually be able to test it out.

Kerastase Resistance Ciment Thermique Protect: This is a hair treatment meant to protect your hair from heat, I'm not too excited for this..I don't style my hair too much but since I have it I'll try it.

Nicole Richie Fragrances (Nicole): I honestly HATE seeing perfume samples in my Birchbox. If you do the math I got 5 samples, paid $10. It's kind of like paying $2 for a vial of perfume. I don't know, they're just kind of a let down for me. By the way, if I'm going to shell out $69 for a perfume it's definately going to be Taylor Swifts new fragrance, Enchanted. I love Wonderstruck. (I just got pretty off topic...)

theBalm cosmetics Mary-Lou Manizer: I was beyond happy to see this in my box! It has a bit of a cult following and I've seen it on other blogs and I've been dying to try it, now I can! YAY!

Emily's Chocolates Dark Chocolate Peppermint Holiday Fortunes- I way happy to see chocolate anything in my box (Who isn't??) but when I saw peppermint I thought it was ruined. I hate mint anything. Ugh. Then it's a fortune cookie, I just didn't expect to like this what-so-ever. But I did! It's a pretty calm peppermint and the chocolate, oh my god. Fantastic quality! The fortune cookie just gave it a crunch, which was surprisingly nice. I actually might buy these. A box of 6 is $5.99

So that's my Birchbox this month. theBalm and Emily's chocolate saved the day. ;) What did you get? Do you suggest any other subscription sevices?

Thank you for reading!
Much love,
Ashley

Simple Winter Nail Of The Day (NOTD)

For this winter theme design I used Midnight Affair and Stunning both made by Revlon. Want a cheap joke? I hope your "Midnight Affair" was "Stunning"! Good right? No, it was cheaper than these polishes ;) Both of these polishes I got at Rite Aid on 75% off clearance about a week ago. If you see Midnight Affair don't be fooled by the bottle, this is a beautiful Navy blue, it's shiny but it's not metallic like the bottle makes it appear. Take a look!
To me, it has a snowing at night kind of look! It is simply two coats of Midnigh Affair and then start about half way down the nail with Stunning. I don't suggest doing it evenly, as in start a little futher behind here and little more towards the tip here, don't be a perfectionist! It looks perfect this way. I have two coats of Stunning on also, because to be honest Stunning's sparkles are pretty few and far between to some degree. But I do love this look and I had to share it. I also don't have a topcoat on.

Thanks for reading!
Much love,

CVS and Rite Aid Clearance Haul!

Yes, it's that time of year again! Where all the insane beauty hoarders *none of us are guilty, right? Nah, I plead the fifth.* But the CVS beauty clearance is in full swing with those glorious 50% - 75% off signs and I even found a good amount of 75% off signs at Rite Aid! So before I show you what I found, I should let you know that at your store these products might not be marked, as mine were not. But all of the same beauty products are on clearance from store to store so scan them at the little red scanner/coupon machine just to make sure. There is a master list here (from one of my fav blogs!) So that's what I got! The top picture is CVS and the second is Rite Aid. Let me break down what I got:

CVS:
Milani Lip Flash in Hot Flash and Flash Light- around $2.00 each
Wet N' Wild Eyeshadows singles in Brulee and Glamrock (My camera picked these colors up badly, Glamrock is a stunning purple with silver sparles and brulee is not yellow, it's a very biege highlight color) -.99 cents each
Burt's Bees Lip Gloss in Evening Glow- Not on sale but there was a $1.50 off coupon and it's a new product I had to try. $8.99 (Reg.)

Rite Aid:
Almay intense i-color satin i kit trio for Hazel eyes -$1.94
Revlon Nail Polish in Stunning and Mischievous -$1.34 each

So that is my haul! I will be doing reviews in a timely manner this time *Promise!* so if you would like to get these deals, well long story short don't hesitate! I'll long the long story ASAP. If there's anything you'd like reviewed first let me know!
